Singaporean popstars The Sam Willows formed in Singapore in 2011 and released two studio albums, an EP and nine singles before announcing their hiatus in 2019. Founded by siblings Benjamin Kheng (born on August 15, 1990 in Singapore) and Narelle Kheng (born on September 24, 1993 in Singapore) alongside keyboardist and vocalist Sandra Riley Tang (born on December 25, 1990 in Singapore) and Jonathan Chua (born on February 12, 1990 in Singapore), the quartet dropped their debut self-titled EP in 2012 through Sony Music Entertainment Singapore. They brought the record to life the following year at Texas's famed South by Southwest music festival and in 2013 joined legendary British producer Steve Lillywhite in the studio for a week-long production session, organized by Singapore Music Society (SG MUSO). The session yielded an updated version of their "Glasshouse" track, which was released as a single with an accompanying music video. In 2015, The Sam Willows signed to Sony Music Singapore and released their debut album, Take Heart, in October that year, which was boosted by various high-profile live shows including a support slot opening for The Script. A new single in May 2017, "Keep Me Jealous," ushered in the group's second album I Know, But Where, which was released the following year. They released a Christmas single "(I'm Gonna Be Loved)" in November 2018 but went on hiatus in May 2019 to focus on their solo careers.
