Launched in 2010, The Secret Sisters is a harmony-rich folk duo featuring siblings Laura Rogers and Lydia Slagle. Raised by a musical family in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, the sisters sang together in church and later went to Los Angeles, where they recorded their first album with producers Dave Cobb and T-Bone Burnett. The self-titled debut went to number 3 on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums Chart and number 8 on the Americana/Folk Albums Chart. Burnett worked with the band once again on the follow-up record 'Put Your Needle Down,' which topped the Heatseekers in 2014 and peaked at number three on the Americana/Folk Chart. Fellow Americana artist Brandi Carlile produced The Secret Sisters' third album, 2017's 'You Don't Own Me Anymore', which hit number 3 on the Heatseekers and number 7 on Americana/Folk. The siblings received a Grammy nomination for "Best Folk Album" with 2020's Saturn Return, then returned to their hometown to record their fifth album, Mind, Man, Medicine, which was released in 2024. "All the Ways," a duet with former tour mate Ray LaMontagne, became the album's lead single, reaching number 39 on the Top 40 Radio Adult Alternative Songs chart in America that spring.
