Tim Bendzko is a popular German singer-songwriter who was born in Berlin in 1985. He first started playing guitar at the age of 12 and developed a love of music which was to later define his life. As a teenager he was a student of theology and studied the subject at university before terminating his studies and entering the motor trade as an auctioneer. In 2009 he won a talent competition organised by the musical band Söhne Mannheims and this was to prove pivotal in Bendzko's career. The ensuing exposure led to a recording contract with Sony and the young singer's career began to take off. A national tour as support act for the German rock band Silly began to build an audience for his work and in 2011 he released his debut album 'Wenn Worte Meine Sprache Wären'. The album's title single became his winning entry for the prestigious Bundesvision Song Contest and as a result the album went on to sell over half a million copies reaching number four in the charts. His next two albums were both number ones and established the singer's reputation as a mainstream pop performer in his native Germany.
