Formed in 1987 by three students from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris, the Trio Wanderer takes its name from a song by Franz Schubert (D. 946). This chamber music ensemble, winner of the ARD Prize in Munich, brings together violinist Jean-Marc Phillips-Varjabédian, cellist Raphaël Pidoux and pianist Vincent Coq. The Trio Wanderer quickly acquired an international reputation, forging a reputation through concerts and festivals, sometimes working with great conductors on concertos. A flagship of the Harmonia Mundi label since 1999, the group regularly wins critical acclaim for its piano trios by Ravel and Chausson (1999), Shostakovich (2004), Saint-Saëns (2005), Mendelssohn (2007), Schubert (2008) and Fauré's Piano Quartet (2010). The ensemble has also completed the complete Brahms Trios in 2006 and the Beethoven Trios in 2012, and has won three Victoires de la Musique awards.
