TWS

TWS is a South Korean boy band originating from Seoul. This six-member group, consisting of Shinyu, Dohoon, Youngjae, Hanjin, Jihoon, and Kyungmin, was formed and managed by Pledis Entertainment. In terms of public image, TWS was introduced as a "next-generation" group with aspirations of creating a new genre they called "boyhood pop," a take on the boyband genre that aims to represent the everyday experiences of boys. The group's formation was first hinted at by Pledis Entertainment in late 2023, promising a new boy band in early 2024. The members were initially introduced with their identities concealed during the SVT Caratland event in 2023 by Seventeen member Hoshi. They officially kicked off their career with the release of their debut EP Sparkling Blue in early 2024. The EP was produced by Han Sung-soo, CEO of Pledis Entertainment. Sparkling Blue was a commercial success, reaching number 1 in Korea, number 3 in Japan, and number 4 on the Japan Hot chart. They followed the release of Sparkling Blue with singles such as "OH MYMY : 7S" which, despite not charting in South Korea, landed in the Top 100 of the Japanese JWAVE charts. Summer Beat!, TWS' second extended play, arrived in June 2024 and soared to the top of the Korean charts, also peaking at number 2 in Japan.
