Tye Tribbett

The American gospel singer Tye Tribbett was born as "Thomas Tyrone "Tye" Tribbett" on January 26, 1976. A native of Camden, New Jersey, he is best known for his Grammy-winning solo career, as well as his career-launching run as co-founder and lead vocalist of the gospel group Tye Tribbett & Greater Anointing. His parents both worked as ministers during his youth, and Tribbett launched his career as a background vocalist for other artists (including Justin Timberlake, Will Smith, and Sting) before beginning his own ministry with the faith-based project Tye Tribbett & Greater Anointing. The group's debut album, Ideas & Concepts, was released in 2000, but it was 2006's Victory Live! that marked their commercial breakthrough. A Number 1 hit on Billboard's Top Gospel Albums chart, Victory Live! also featured a Number 1 single, "Victory," which was nominated for "Best Gospel Performance" and "Best Gospel Song" at the 49th Grammy Awards. Tye Tribbett next four albums all reached Number 1, too, including 2010's Fresh, which also doubled as first solo album. Fresh's follow-up, Greater Than, won Tribbett a Grammy Award for "Best Gospel Album" and "Best Gospel Song" in 2014. Ten years later, he won again, this time taking home the award for "Best Gospel Album" with his 2023 release All Things New: Live In Orlando.
