Umji

Kim Ye-won, better known to the world by her stage name Umji, is a South Korean singer and musician. She was born on August 19, 1998, in Yeonsu-dong, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon. She is the youngest child in her family, which includes an older brother and sister. Umji graduated from the School of Performing Arts Seoul in 2017. Her professional music career began when she debuted as a member of the K-pop girl group GFriend in 2015. The group released their first extended play Season of Glass in 2015, featuring the single "Glass Bead." Their debut performance followed on KBS2's Music Bank the next day. In 2016, Umji ventured into solo work with the soundtrack song "The Way" for the drama Shopping King Louie. However, her activities were briefly paused in October 2016 due to a muscle injury, though she returned to the stage for the Melon Music Awards after a month. In 2017, she participated in the show King of Mask Singer, advancing through two rounds. The following year, she co-hosted the talk show Yogobara. In 2020, Umji released another soundtrack titled "Welcome" for the drama of the same name and began hosting the talk show Avenger Girls. Following GFriend's disbandment, Umji, along with Eunha and SinB, signed with BPM Entertainment. They formed the trio Viviz, debuting in 2022 with the EP Beam of Prism. In 2024, Umji participated in the soundtrack album Lovely Runner OST Part 4, performing the song "May I Love You?"
