Christoph Umbeck, known by his stage name Umse, was born in Ratingen on July 25, 1983. He has been writing German-language hip-hop lyrics since 1997. His musical career began in 2006 with the online EP Smart und weise. in 2008, he released his debut album Rheinisches Blatt, which was named one of the best genre releases of the year by laut.de. in 2014, he reached number 36 in the German charts with Kunst für sich. The follow-up album Hawaiianischer Schnee enters at number 16 in 2015. 2018 sees the release of Durch die Wolkendecke, which reaches number 41. in 2020, Umse collaborated with US producer Nottz for the album Uno, which reached number 40 in the German charts. séparée follows in 2022, reaching number 24. At the beginning of 2025, the album Immunsystem is released and enters the German charts at number 21.
