Unk

Anthony Leonard Platt, otherwise known as Unk or DJ Unk, is an American DJ and rap artist born on March 28, 1981 in Atlanta (Georgia). Beginning his career in music in 1998 at the age of 17, DJing alongside DJ Jelly and DJ Montay. After joining their entourage, the Southern Style DJs, he continuously performed at various events around the country until in 2000 when he was signed to Big Oomp Records. His debut album Beat'n Down Yo Block! was released in 2006 and sold over 200,000 copies, with lead single "Walk It Out" certified platinum. After a number of high-profile collaborations with Sean Kingston, T-Pain and Soulja Boy, Unk released his second album 2econd Season in 2008 and featuring the hit "Show Out". Continuing his commercial success, his track "In Yo Face" was featured on the soundtrack to the NBA 2k9 video game. After suffering from a heart attack in 2009, Unk took a break from music and made changes in his lifestyle. Unk eventually made a return to music in 2012 with single "Get Em Up" before releasing long-awaited third album Fresh Off Dem Papers in 2017. On January 24, 2025, Anthony Platt died of a hart attack at the age of 43.
