Up Up Girls kakko Kari

Steered by lead singer Minami Sengoku, the Japanese idol group originally known as Up Front Girls kakko kari, and later renamed as Up Up Girls kakko Kari, officially formed in Tokyo in 2011 and began releasing uptempo singles that same year via Up-Front Works, later switching labels to T-Palette Records. They were commercially successful from early on, releasing debut single “Going My Way" (Going my ↑) and follow-up “Barebare I Love You” in 2012 while charting in Japan with third single “Uppercut! / Yūdachi! Through the Rainbow", also released in 2012 and reaching number 64. Their debut full-length, First Album (Kakko Kari) was issued via Up-Front Works in 2013 and went to number 63 on the Japanese album chart. In 2014, several members formed the group Team Makenki (Kari) while two more albums emerged: Second Album (Kakko Kari) (which went to number 28 in 2014), Third Album (Kakko Kari) (which went to number 39 in 2015). In 2017, a sister group, who took the name Up Up Girls (2), pronounced Kakko Niki, was formed. That same year, Sengoku Minami and Sato Ayano announced their graduation from Up Up Girls (Kari), with the group going down to five members and releasing a Fourth Album (Kakko Kari) (which went to number 23 in 2017) and Aoharu 1st (which went to number 24 in 2019). In 2020, they released their final album as a five-piece, 6th Album (Kakko Kari) with members Konatsu Furukawa, Saki Mori, Akari Saho and Manami Arai all announcing their graduations from the group, which would leave Azusa Sekine as the only remaining original member. Later that year, seven new members (Yurika Furuya, Meina Suzuki, Sumire Kudo, Ayu Suzuki, Seina Koyama, Yume Aoyagi and Haruka Sumida) passed the audition to join the group. In July 2021, they released the single "Ippome no YES! / Sensen Brand New World!" with their first mini album Apuga Yabai arriving in January 2022.
