Urs Karpatz

Since 1993, Urs Karpatz's vocation has been to bring Gypsy traditions to life by fusing them. Focusing on voices, Urs Karpatz brings together members from France, Romania and Hungary to explore music common to the great gypsy family, from Rajasthan to Andalusia via the Balkans. Sung in Romanes - the language of the Gypsies - Urs Karpatz's repertoire flourishes on stage and on albums such as Voix Tziganes (1995), Routes et Racines (2000) and Le Best of en Public (2005). In 2000, Urs Karpatz was awarded the Prix Romanès by Tony Gatlif, and in 2010, he is back on track with Les Voix Tsiganes d'Urs Karpatz.
