Velvet Chains

Bass player Nils Goldschmidt formed the hard rock act Velvet Chains in 2018. Based in Las Vegas, Nevada, the band played grunge classics and other cover songs for two years before transitioning to original material in 2020. Velvet Chains brewed up a dark, riff-heavy sound inspired by modern rock acts of the 1990s and 2000s. Goldschmidt unveiled that sound with his band's independently-released debut album, Icarus, in 2021. Icarus featured a cameo from Guns N' Roses member Richard Fortus, but the band took the album out of circulation in 2023. Three of the album's tracks were later re-recorded with newly-hired vocalist Ro Viper, who joined the lineup in 2022. Also arriving in 2022 was Velvet Chains' first EP, Morbid Dreams. Three standalone singles — "I Am The Ocean," "Stuck Against The Wall," and "Eyes Closed" — were released the following year, introducing a new lineup that included Viper, Goldschmidt, lead guitarist Burton Car, drummer Jason Hope, and rhythm guitarist Lahi Cassiano. Recorded with alternative rock producer Erik Ron, who previously worked with acts like Bush and Godsmack, "Stuck Against the Wall" becoming the band's first hit in America in January 2024, when the song debuted at number 40 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart.
