Attracted by the great voices of jazz, Virginie Teychené, a native of Draguignan in the Var region of France, gave up her studies to devote herself to the art of singing. Her first album, Portraits (2007), recorded with Workshop Experience, received unanimous critical acclaim. Her appearance at the Juan-les-Pins Jazz Festival the following summer earned her a unique double: the Grand Prix du Jury and the Prix du Public. Her next album, I Feel So Good, released in 2010, was followed by a European tour and the recording of Bright and Sweet, her acclaimed third opus, released in November 2012. In 2015, the singer, surrounded by her usual trio and harmonica player Olivier Ker Ourio, covers French chanson classics (Alain Bashung, Léo Ferré, Barbara, Claude Nougaro), among other standards, on her fourth album Encore.
