Vivica Genaux

Alaskan-born American singer Vivica Genaux (1969) began by interpreting secondary roles in Rossini operas (from The Barber of Seville to L'Italienne à Alger), before distinguishing herself in the Baroque world. Revealed at New York's Metropolitan Opera (1994), then voted "Artist of the Year" at the Dresden Festival in 1998, the coloratura mezzo-soprano went on to give a series of operas(Arminio, Le Retour d'Ulysse) and recitals. Her discography includes collections devoted to Donizetti and Rossini (2003), Handel and Hasse (2006) and Vivaldi(Pyrotechnics in 2009). After a work devoted to the castrato Farinelli (2002), the Venice-based mezzo-soprano turned her attention to the repertoire of her rival in Tribute to Faustina Boldoni in 2012. In 2014, she sang in duo with Simone Kermes in the recital Rival Queens.
