WANDS

WANDS are a Japanese rock band formed in 1991. Initially formed by Show Wesugi, Hiroshi Shibasaki and Kousuke Oshima, the band took influence from the likes of alternative rock bands like Guns N' Roses and reached number one with their 1992 single 'If I Embrace You More Strongly', staying in the charts for 44 weeks. Debut album 'Temporal Door' went straight to number one in 1993 and sold more than three million albums, with the band instantly becoming one of the biggest acts in Japan of the time. In 1996, Wesugi and Shibasaki quit the group and WANDS announced they were parting ways. The group reformed in 1997 with a new line-up and provided the end credits theme song for 'Dragon Ball GT' and 'Yu-Gi-Oh'. Having released the record 'Awake' in 1999 to limited commercial success, this era of WANDS announced their second disbandment through their website in 2000. In 2019 WANDS reformed again, with vocalist Daishi Uehara alongside former members Hiroshi Shibasaki and Shinya Kimura and returned to the stage in September at the Dojima River Forum. They released their first single 'Makka Na Lip', which is the opening theme to anime series 'Detective Conan'.
