Wassup, stylized as WA$$UP, was a South Korean girl group formed by Mafia Records and Sony Music. Originating from Seoul, the group debuted on August 7, 2013, with the single "Wassup." The original lineup included Nada, Jinju, Dain, Nari, Jiae, Sujin, and Woojoo. Upon their debut, Wassup quickly garnered attention for their unique dancehall genre and twerking dance style. Their debut was marked by the release of their music video "Wassup" and their performance on the show Show Champion. Wassup's first EP, titled NOM NOM NOM, was released in 2013. It entered the Circle Albums Chart at number 29. They followed up in 2014 with the single "Fire," celebrating the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Their second EP Showtime (2014) charted at number 55 in South Korea. The year also saw the release of their music video for "Shut Up U." 2015 brought the release of their single "Stupid Liar." In 2017, Nada, Dain, and Jinju departed following disputes and lawsuits over contract terminations. The remaining members released the EP ColorTV (2017). That same year, Nari participated in the survival show The Unit. Wassup officially disbanded in 2019, as announced by Mafia Records. Throughout their career, individual members engaged in solo activities. Nada released a solo song "Bang Bang," and Sujin appeared in various dramas and reality shows. Jiae embarked on a solo music project in 2022, marking her debut with the album Love is Love.
