White Town

White Town is a one-man band formed in 1989 by Indian-born Englishman Jyoti Prakash Mishra. Influenced by Pixies, he initially formed the band with other musicians, but found himself on his own in 1990. Somewhere between British alternative rock and electro rock, White Town released Socialism, Sexism & Sexuality in 1994, to little fanfare. Signed to EMI, White Town triumphed in 1997 with the song "Your Woman", which reached No. 5 in France and was followed by the album Women in Technology. In conflict with his label, White Town returned to theunderground and artistic independence, suffering from irregular inspiration from which only emerged the album Don't Mention the War, released in 2006. Its hit "Your Woman " remains a regular fixture on radio and streaming sites for decades after its release.
