Coming on the heels of the massive success of fellow urban artists Natanael Cano and Peso Pluma, Xavi emerged onto the music scene in the 2020s with his sentimental brand of Regional Mexican music, a style he describes as "tumbado romántico." Born Joshua Xavier Gutiérrez in Arizona, United States, he made his official debut in 2020 with the single "Vete Ya," further establishing himself with streaming hits such as "Ojitos de Miel" and "Amigos con Derechos" the following year. Throughout 2022, Xavi collaborated with other up-and-coming artists in the Regional Mexican genre, including Los Primos del Este ("Loko"), Clave 520 ("Sé Chambiar"), and Eduardo Soto ("Zero Sentimientos"), further solidifying his presence on the burgeoning Regional Mexican scene. My Mom's Playlist, a collection of Latin music covers inspired by his mother's favorite songs, served as his proper studio debut, hitting the shelves in 2023. Later that year, he again boosted his streaming numbers with the single "La Víctima," which accumulated over 3 million plays across different platforms. The track was followed by other successful singles such as "La Diabla" (2023) and "OOTD" (2024), both included in his debut LP NEXT, released in 2024.
