Yaga & Mackie

Yaga & Mackie was one of Puerto Rico's most beloved reggaeton acts during the 2000s and early 2010s. Formed in 2001 by bandmates Javier Martinez and Luis Pizarro, the group made its public debut with 2002's Sonando Diferente, an album that featured collaborations with acts like Daddy Yankee and Tego Calderón. A second album, Clase Aparte, was released in 2004, with the tracks "Yo Soy Aquél," "Asechándote," "Haciendo El Amor" all becoming hits in Puerto Rico. Yaga & Mackie found increased success with 2005's La Moda, which became a Top 40 hit on both the Top Heatseekers and Top Latin Albums charts. La Moda featured appearances by Pitbull, Tego Calderón, and others, and the duo capitalized on its success by releasing La Reunión in 2007. Enormously popular not only in Puerto Rico, but also in multiple Latin markets beyond the duo's homeland, La Reunión featured Yaga & Mackie's highest-charting single, "Aparentemente." Los Mackieavelikos and Los Mackieavelikos HD were released in 2008 and 2012, respectively, but Yaga & Mackie disbanded one year after the latter album's release, with both musicians focusing on their solo careers throughout the remainder of the decade.
