José Alberto Torres Abreu, better known as Yomo, is an American reggaeton singer, songwriter, and producer born on June 17, 1980, in Chicago and raised in Humacao, Puerto Rico. Yomo began his career in 2004, contributing to Master Joe & OG Black’s Sabotaje with the track "Vamo' álla." Signed by Héctor el Father’s Gold Star Music in 2005, he gained prominence with the hit "Déjale caer to' el peso," produced by Tainy for the Sangre Nueva album, which climbed the charts and established him as a rising star. In 2006, he released several successful singles, including "Que se sienta," "Voy subiendo," and "No ha sido fácil," showcasing his range and versatility. His 2008 debut album, My Destiny, featured diverse rhythms and hits like "Descará" and "Tu te la trees," while the romantic single "Mi mujer" further cemented his popularity. Collaborations with reggaeton icons such as Daddy Yankee, Farruko, and De La Ghetto followed, including "Pa' romper la discoteca,! which garnered over 135 million views on his channel. Yomo continued to evolve, contributing to Farruko’s Imperio Nazza: Farruko Edition and collaborating with Bad Bunny and Almighty on Prayer. With a career spanning-decades, Yomo remains a key figure in the reggaeton genre.
