Young K

Kang Young-hyun, known professionally as Young K, is a Korean musician, singer, songwriter, and rapper, born on December 19, 1993, in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. He had a diverse upbringing, spending his early years in Ilsan, South Korea, before relocating to Toronto, Canada, where he attended middle and high school. In 2010, Kang returned to Korea and began his journey as a trainee at JYP Entertainment (JYP). However, it was not until 2014 that Kang's musical path took a significant turn when he was selected as a member of the five-member rock band, 5Live. Unfortunately, their debut plans were postponed, prompting the band's reformation as Day6 following the addition of drummer Dowoon in 2015 and the group released their debut EP, The Day, featuring the lead single "Congratulations." In September 2015, Young K showcased his versatility by collaborating with fellow JYP artist, solo artist Baek A-yeon on the track "Shouldn't Have." To their surprise, it became a hit, reaching the top spot on several Korean music real-time charts a month after its release. On August 31, 2020, Kang, along with Dowoon and Wonpil, formed Even of Day, a sub-unit of Day6. Together, they released their debut EP, The Book of Us: Gluon, featuring the lead single "Where the Sea Sleeps." On November 23, 2020, Kang took on the role of the DJ on popular Korean program Kiss The Radio. Transitioning to his solo career, Kang made his solo debut on September 6, 2021, with the release of the extended play Eternal. The EP achieved significant success, rising to the eighth position on the charts, featuring the title track "Guard You." Two years later, on June 23, 2023, Kang released the single "Better Day" which emerged as the winning song of the music contest Songs That Care, hosted by JYP Entertainment. Kang continued his solo endeavours by releasing "Let it be Summer," on August 25, 2023, which served as the opening track from his debut studio album Letters with Notes. The album was officially launched on September 4, gaining a prominent position in the top 5 on Korean music charts, accompanied by the track "Nothing But."
