Yu Matsuo (born October 15, 1990, Kyoto, Japan) is a Japanese pop pianist and singer-songwriter. She began playing the piano at age four and soon ventured into writing lyrics and composing music. At 20, she started performing live as a keyboardist, later expanding her work to include commercial songs and the production of company and school songs. Known for her signature red high heels, Matsuo gained further acclaim in 2022 after director Amon Miyamoto invited her to audition before a panel of entertainment professionals, and she released original song “Alive!”, featured on the album ALIVE~Piano collection~ that same year, which solidified her success. Matsuo returned in 2024 with two albums: Love Songs, released in July, followed by ピアノウタヒメ in August, which featured popular movie tracks “Part of Your World” and “My Heart Will Go On”. ピアノウタヒメ reached number 68 on the Japanese album charts.
