Zeds Dead

Zeds Dead, named for a snippet of dialogue in the film Pulp Fiction, are an electronic music duo formed in Toronto, Canada in 2009 by Dylan Mamid and Zachary Rapp-Rovan aka DC and Hooks. They use synthesisers for a mix of styles including house, hip-hop, garage and dubstep. They first gained attention with remixes on the Internet and by hosting a weekly show called Bassmentality in Toronto that saw performances by Borgore, Nero, Came & Krooked, and Skrillex. They toured America, Canada and Europe in 2010 and two years later their EP Adrenaline went to number eleven on Billboard's Top Dance/Electronic Albums Chart. The EP Hot Sauce (2013) reached number 13 on the Dance/Electronic Chart and the album Somewhere Else (2015) peaked at number four. Somewhere Else: Remixes (2015) hit number 20 and Northern Lights (2016) went to number six. They have collaborated with Freddie Gibbs, Rivers Cuomo and Jauz. Their 2018 singles included "Samurai" with Ganja White Night, "Kill Em" featuring 1000Volts,"We Could Be Kings" with DNMO featuring Tzar and "Magnets" with Snails featuring Akylla. "Lift You Up" with Delta Heavy' came out in 2019. In 2020 followed the album We Are Deadbeats, before the creation of their new label Altered States and the release of the mixtape Catching Z's in 2021. Not included in the mixtape, the track "Alive" was another hit ranked in Dance/Electronic Chart, as "Gassed Up" in 2022, "Ecstasy of Soul" in 2023, "Sweet Memories" in 2024, and "One of These Mornings" in 2025. The last two are included in the album Return to the Spectrum of Intergalactic Happiness.
