Zerobaseone, stylized as ZB1, is a South Korean boy band formed through Mnet's reality competition Boys Planet in 2023, bringing together 98 contestants from various countries to compete and debut in a multinational boy group. After a series of eliminations, final members Kim Ji-woong, Zhang Hao, Sung Han-bin, Seok Matthew, Kim Tae-rae, Ricky, Kim Gyu-vin, Park Gun-wook, and Han Yu-jin were announced. On May 14, 2023, the group released a teaser film after completing their first group schedule at KCON Japan 2023, making their debut on July 10, 2023, with the EP Youth in the Shade. The EP amassed over 780,000 pre-orders within five days, surpassing 1.08 million copies by July 4, setting a record for the highest number of pre-orders for a K-pop debut. On October 6, it was revealed that the group's second EP, Melting Point, was scheduled for release on November 6. By October 26, the album had garnered over 1.7 million pre-orders and reportedly achieved sales of over 2 million copies within its inaugural week, marking them as the first K-pop group to achieve such a feat within their debut year. The EP reached the second position on both the charts in Japan and Korea. On March 7, Zerobaseone made their Japanese debut with the single "Yura Yura (Unmei no Hana)" (ゆらゆら -運命の花-), which swiftly rose to the Number 1 spot on the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart with over 302,000 copies sold. This accomplishment crowned Zerobaseone as the first foreign artist to surpass the 300,000 copies milestone in the first week with their Japanese debut single. In 2024, they released a new EP Cinema Paradise.
