Zily, whose full name is Amida Zily, is a singer-songwriter born in 1983 in Tsingoni, on the island of Mayotte. She is renowned for her fusion of traditional Mahoran music with contemporary genres such as pop and Afrobeat. From the age of seven, Zily was introduced to debaa, a traditional Mauritanian song, influenced by her maternal grandmother. At the age of 16, she was spotted by Jean Raymond Cudza, an emblematic figure in Mahoran music, with whom she recorded the track"Nyandzo" ("Amour" in Shimaoré), propelling her to the forefront of the local scene. In 2021, Zily expanded her repertoire with the release of"Tsika", a song which means "together" in Malagasy and "I have been" in Shimaoré. The song was included on her album Imani Na Amani in 2023, and the same year she was named "Coup de Coeur" at the Francofolies de La Réunion.
