Brazilian singer-songwriter Ana Carolina was heavily influenced by the musical styles of Björk, Nina Simone and Alanis Morissette. Surrounded by the music of her homeland including Maria Bethânia and Joao Bosco, she channelled the mix of influences to create her own unique style on her debut record 'Ana Carolina', released in 1999. On the back of a Latin Grammy nomination for the album, she quickly began work on her second offering which came in 2001 under the title 'Ana Rita Joana Iracema e Carolina'. She continued the success with third album 'Estampado' before releasing greatest hits record 'Ana Carolina: Perfil' in 2004. In 2005 she revealed herself to be bisexual, a topic which she touched upon with her 2006 album 'Dois Quartos'. 'N9ve' was released in 2009 and features the number one duet single 'Entreolhares' which she recorded with John Legend. Further albums included 'Ensaio de Cores' (2012)', '#AC' (2013) and '#AC - Ao Vivo' (2015). In 2019 she released the first single, 'Nao Tem no Mapa', from her latest album, 'Fogueira em Alto Mar'.
