Born on July 10, 1992 in Singapore to parents of Peranakan descent, singer-songwriter, scriptwriter, actor and YouTuber Annette Lee started out performing live shows as a musician while at university in Singapore but thanks to social media was able to reach a wider audience. She worked as a director, writer and editor on two short films in 2015 – Graduation and Keep Mum – before finding her feet as a comedy actress on Singapore's social media platform SGAG, where she entertained under her glasses-wearing persona Sue-Ann. Annette Lee shared her first music video on YouTube, "Ready for a Savior," in August 2017 and her debut EP arrived the following month. Five tracks of finger-snapping electro-folk with a self-reflective core, All Our Achilles Heels was created with the assistance of a National Arts Council presentation grant and produced and recorded in Nashville. Her second music video, "None Good" was unveiled in March 2018 and in October 2020 Annette Lee dropped her second EP, the dance-pop-flavored Song for the Underdog – also produced and recorded in Nashville – which landed the same year as her new web series, the K-pop-inspired You Only Debut Once, which tells the story of a burgeoning artist trying to make it in Singapore. 2021 saw the release of a new single with Benjamin Kheng, a comedy single with a heavy metal heart, "I Want My Bubble Tea."
