Born in Mumbai, India on March 29, 1985, Anusha Mani is a playback singer. While best known for her work in Hindi cinema (Bollywood), she has released several singles outside of her Bollywood recordings. Raised in a musical family, she began learning Carnatic music at a young age. She began her singing career by performing in Gujarati theater, where she met music director / writer Amit Trivedi, with whom she recorded an unreleased album. Anusha Mani came to prominence in 2007 when she was asked to sing “Dhoka,” which was featured in the film Johnny Gaddaar. The song was written by the acclaimed trio Shankar – Ehsaan – Loy, who continued to work with her in several different projects. Anusha Mani’s other popular recordings include “Dil Mein Jaagi” (from 2009’s Dev.D), “Lehrin” (from 2010’s Aisha), “Maine Yeh Kab Socha Tha” (from 2011’s Game), and “Gulaabo” (from 2015’s Shandaar). While continuing her playback career, she released her first non-film single, “Savera,” in 2017 and began appearing on television shows such as MTV’s Angels of Rock and Love Me India. She also performed several songs for the web series Broken But Beautiful. In 2022, Anusha Mani performed the song “Thumkeshwari” (from Bhediya – Telugu) alongside Sachin-Jigar and Karthik.
