An American pianist of Irish origin, Arthur Hanlon draws his inspiration from Latin music. Born in Detroit, he made his debut at the age of fifteen with the Flip Jackson Band, then moved to New York to study at the Manhattan School of Music. Influenced by Latin jazz, in 1999 he recorded his first self-produced album, Encuentros, which attracted the attention of Fonovisa Records, the label that released his next successful albums, El Piano Amarillo (2001), 11 Números Uno (2004) and La Gorda Linda (2005), featuring Tito Nieves, Arturo Sandoval and Ana Bárbara. Signed by EMI, in 2006 he produced the album Mecanomaniá, which covers the songs of the Spanish band Mecano in his own instrumental style, in a fashionable lounge/easy listening style. After touring with Chayanne, the pianist set to work on the album Piano Sin Fronteras (2009), featuring Juanes, Laura Pausini, Luis Fonsi, Ricardo Montaner and other artists. Released in 2012, Encanto del Caribe: Arthur Hanlon & Friends features Marc Anthony, Ana Isabelle, Natalia Jiménez and Cheo Feliciano, while Piano y Mujer II (2022), the second part of a diptych, invites Keny Garcia, Nella and Goyo from Colombian group Chocquibtown. In the 2020s, the pianist turns more towards urban pop with the albums Legados Bachata and Legados Pop (2023).
