The life of Dutch death metal and doom band Asphyx has been a turbulent one. Between incessant personnel changes and career breaks, Asphyx has not given itself the means to build a truly consistent body of work. It's all the more of a pity, given that the Dutch band is capable of the best with The Rack in 1991 and Last One on Earth in 1992. Re-formed for the third time in 2007, Asphyx delivered Death...The Brutal Way in 2009 and Deathhammer in 2012.
