August Burns Red is a Grammy-nominated, Christian-influenced metalcore band formed in 2003 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Thrill Seeker, the group's debut, was released in 2005 and failed to reach the Billboard charts. Two years later, August Burns Red reached Number 1 on the Top Christian Albums chart with Thrill Seeker's follow-up, Messengers. 2009's Constellations topped the Christian chart, too, while also reaching Number 2 on the Hard Rock Albums chart, Number 8 on the Top Rock Albums chart, and Number 24 on the Billboard 200. August Burns Red continued to enjoy success across multiple formats with albums like 2011's Level, which reached Number 1 on both the Christian and Hard Rock charts while peaking at Number 11 on the Billboard 200. Sleddin' Hill: A Holiday Album went to Number 8 on the Christian Chart in 2012, with 2013's Rescue & Restore reaching Number 2 on the Christian and Hard Rock charts, Number 3 on the Rock Chart, and Number 9 on the Billboard 200. In 2015, Found in Far Away Places rose to the top of the Christian, Hard Rock, Rock and Independent Albums charts, with the single "Identity" receiving a Grammy nomination for "Best Metal Performance." Two years later, August Burns Red received a second nomination in the same category, this time for the song "Invisible Enemy." The track appeared on the band's eighth album, Phantom Anthem, which was released in 2017 and became the group's fifth album to reach Number 1 on Top Christian Albums. Guardians arrived in 2020 and marked the band's sixth chart-topping Christian release, with Death Above appearing three years later in March 2023.
