Some band names are as evocative as they are misleading: Band of Skulls is irresistibly reminiscent of a gang of pissed-off punks, whereas the band from Southampton (Hampshire) is more concerned with reviving a certain kind of English blues rock. Following in the footsteps of both Ten Years After and Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Band of Skulls released Baby Darling Doll Face Honey at the end of 2009, then stuck to a two-year rhythm between releases with Sweet Sour in 2012, Himalayan in 2014 and By Default in 2016.
