Beatsteaks

Although the Beatsteaks were originally a classic punk rock band, today they have fans all over the world, from the alt and indie rock scene to the commercial mainstream. founded in Berlin in 1995, they released their first full-length album 48/49 just one year later. The band led by Arnim Teutoburg-Weiß, who at this point still sings some of the lyrics in German, dedicated themselves entirely to the English language with Launched in 1999. After the release of the third album Living Targets (2002), the band's breakthrough came in 2004 with Smack Smash, which reached the Top 20 in both Austria and Germany. The new attention immediately brought the capital city band an MTV Europe Music Award for Best German Act. In March 2007, the hit single "Jane Became Insane" heralded the studio album Limbo Messiah, which was released a few weeks later. It wins several gold records and enters the top 5 sales lists in both Germany and Austria. After the first live album Kanonen auf Spatzen (2008), this success was surpassed by Boombox in 2011. The Beatsteaks' sixth opus catapulted to the top of the charts in Germany and won over critics and fans alike with a poppier, much calmer style than on its punk rock-influenced predecessors. The next live opus Muffensausen, which reached number 3 in Germany in 2013, was followed by the self-titled Beatsteaks LP in 2014 - another number 1 success in Germany. The single "Gentleman of the Year" also reached number 66 in the German singles charts. 2017 sees the release of a double LP, Yours, which again achieves impressive chart positions throughout the DACH region. Two Beatsteaks EPs followed with Fever Deluxe (2018) and In the Presence of (2020). In June 2024, the band returned with the album Please. The two singles "Detractors" and "Dead Man" herald the ninth studio album.
