Blondshell is the stage of alternative-rock songwriter Sabrina Mae Teitelbaum, who briefly released pop music under the alias "BAUM" before launching the Blondshell project in 2020. A native of New York City, she was born on April 28, 1997. Growing up in midtown Manhattan opened Teitelbaum's eyes to the power of music and theater, and she moved to Los Angeles after graduating high school in 2015, initially planning on securing a degree from the USC Thornton School of Music. Dropping out after two years, she released pop songs like "This Boy" as BAUM before pursuing a different type of music under a name name: Blondshell. The first Blondshell release was 2022's "Olympus," which earned more than eight million streams on Spotify alone and appeared on her self-titled debut album, Blondshell, in April 2023. The album peaked at number 88 on the Billboard Top Current Album Sales chart and was named one of the year's best releases by magazines like Rolling Stone, while its dark, grunge-influenced version of American rock music earned comparisons to '90s acts like Hole, PJ Harvey, and Blur. Another '90s-inspired act, Bully, teamed up with Blondshell for the non-album duet "Docket," which appeared in 2024 and reached number 38 on the Top 40 Radio Adult Alternative Songs chart.
