The Dutch folk rock band, Bots, was formed in 1974 in Eindhoven by guitarist Hans Sanders along with pianist Bonkie Bongaerts. Sanders had previously been a member of the group Dirty Underwear and had been looking for a new project for his talents. The band's debut album titled 'Van Kwaad Tot Erger' was released in 1975 and after a guest appearance on TV the album immediately began to sell well. The following year the band released what was to become their defining song titled 'Zeven Dagen Lang', a cover version of a well-known Breton folk song 'Sin ar Christr', and the Bots version became a chart hit in the Netherlands and Germany. Behind the scenes Sanders was claiming to have been writing lyrics which had been written by other band members, a fact which did not come out until the early 1980s when a series of gold record awards highlighted the fact that some band members were being paid less in royalties than they were due. The fraud effectively ended the band's career because the dispute caused a fundamental line-up change causing the band to lose their record deal and they never regained their former popularity. Hans Sanders died in 2007 and the band is said to be looking for his replacement to record a new album.
