Caribou

Real name Daniel Victor Snaith, Canadian composer and producer Caribou was born in Dundas, Ontario, on March 29, 1978. He first made a name for himself as Manitoba in the early 2000s, releasing a number of critically acclaimed electro EPs, before changing his stage name to Caribou and releasing his first opus, The Milk of Human Kindness, in 2005. Caribou resurfaced two years later with the equally popular Andorra. In 2010, third album Swim takes fans by storm, unveiling a surprising electro-psychedelic exercise. This was followed the same year by a whole album of remixes by Holden, Gold Panda, Junior Boys, Fuck Buttons and DJ Koze. Buoyed by his growing reputation, Caribou deepened his minimalist, danceable universe on the album Our Love (2014), having previously used the alias Daphni. It was under this new stage name that he delivered the album Joli Mai in 2017, before returning to the Caribou suit in 2020 for Suddenly, flirting with house. Caribou's fifth album also featured remixes by Floating Points, Toro y Moi, Four Tet and Jessy Lanza, for an opus released in 2021. Between a busy schedule of performances and DJ work for various labels, Caribou took time out to polish Honey (2024), demonstrating his ever-evolving style.
