After Not the Way, his first mini-album, he released A in 2004 to critical acclaim. Often serious in tone, his songs show a real capacity for songwriting. PREfection in 2005 remains personal, but is more pop-oriented. In 2009, he released Catacombs, again with a nostalgic edge. Prolix in 2011, Cass McCombs releases Wit's End in April and Humor Risk in November, without really shaking things up.
