Born in 1997, Chase Matthew was raised in the rural outskirts of Nashville, Tennessee, where he was influenced not only by the modern sounds of 21st century country music, but also the gospel music he heard in church. Inspired, he began making his own music in the late 2010s, using his popularity as a social media influencer to drive new fans to his music. His debut single, "Never Say It To My Face," was released in 2019, followed by the viral hit "Nashville Crazy" later that same year. "Nashville Crazy" received more than four million digital spins and was followed by a string of successive singles over the next two years. "Shortcuts" (2019), "Somethin' Bout This Woman" (2020), "HollerWood" (2020), "With the Lord" (2020), "11:11" (2020), "Kissin' a Bottle" (2020), and "Don't Seem Real" all generated more momentum, with Chase Matthew establishing a brand of country music that was indebted to the AutoTuned production of pop and the hard-charging guitars of alternative rock. His debut Ep, County Line, arrived in 2021 and proved to be another hit on various streaming platforms, gathering more than 70 million streams during its first four months of availability. The EP also garnered success on country radio, where the title track "County Line" reached Number 29 on the Hot Country Songs chart. After releasing a full-length album, Born For This, in 2022, Matthew returned to the charts once again, this time hitting Number 46 on Hot Country Songs with the single "Love You Again." The song appeared on the Hey World Sessions EP, which was released one year later.
