Chatmonchy, a three-piece all-female rock band from Tokushima Prefecture, Japan, was known for their lively performances and distinct musical style. The band was formed by Eriko Hashimoto in high school and initially performed locally, self-producing and selling their first album, which saw surprising success. They officially debuted with Ki/oon Records in 2005, releasing the album Chatmonchy has come, which sold over 20,000 copies and facilitated their permanent move to Tokyo. Their journey in the music industry was marked by gradual but consistent success, with several of their singles and albums charting well on Oricon. Notably, their song "Shangri-La"(2006) became an ending theme for the anime Hataraki Man, boosting their popularity. Other significant releases include "Daidai" (2007) used in the anime Bleach, and their album Chatmonchy(2007), which reached number 2 on the Oricon charts. The band faced changes when drummer Kumiko Takahashi left in 2011, and they continued as a duo. Their last album before disbanding, Tanjō, was released in June 2018, marking the end of their active years. Throughout their career, they were celebrated for their originality and the energetic and personal touch they brought to their music, leaving a lasting impact with tracks like Tokimeki / Tonari No Onna (2015).
