Material Club

Material Club, originally spearheaded by Yusuke Koide of Base Ball Bear, is a unique musical project that began in 2018 under the label DGP RECORDS and management of Sony Music Artists. Initially known as a music project, it briefly halted in 2020 before resuming in 2024 as a rock band with Koide at the core. This transition marked a shift from a solo artist to a collaborative band setup, introducing new dynamics and creative inputs from various artists. Originally, Material Club started with a strong involvement from Akiko Fukuoka of Chatmonchy and utilized Desktop Music (DTM) for compositions—a method not used in Base Ball Bear. The project debuted with the digital release of "00 Grammar" in September 2018, followed by a series of unique releases including the song "Nicogoly" and the album Material Club which featured contributions from several notable artists across various genres. In 2019, the project highlighted its versatility by providing the theme song "Fear" for the film Ghost Master. Fast forward to 2024, the rebranded material club launched its activities with new members and released its debut single under the new setup, "Love's Pattern" on October 23. This was followed by their first album material club II released on October 30, signaling a fresh chapter for the band. They also planned their first tour Materialistic to cap off the year, showcasing the evolved sound and collaborative spirit of the group.
