Reggae DJ Lee Sung Hong – born on August 4, 1984, in Osaka, Japan – is better known by his stage name CHEHON. He became interested in reggae music and began DJing in 2002. Four years later, he released his debut mini album, Midori (2006), which reached Number 22 on the Japanese Indie Albums chart. CHEHON followed that release with his debut full-length, CHEHON’s First Album, in 2007. Signing to BMG, he issued his first major label album, Rhyme Life (2009), which featured the hit single “Impact”. After the release of his 2010 album, Road to Island, he relocated to Jamaica for a short time. His return to Japan was marked by his 2012 album, Seaview Garden, which musically encapsulated his extended visit to Jamaica. Subsequent albums included A Passing Point (2013), RE:START (2015), and Best (2016). A few months after Best was released, his original label reissued a special remastered 10th Anniversary edition of his 2006 debut album, Midori. CHEHON spent the next several years collaborating with other artists including Natural Weapon, Big Bear, Shady, Ryo the Skywalker, Gobbla, Risky Dice, and Spicy Chocolate. CHEHON returned in August 2021 with the album The Culmination.
