Choi Sung-su, born on March 25, 1960, in Seoul, South Korea, is a renowned Korean singer, songwriter, and composer. He graduated from Berklee College of Music with a degree in composition and later obtained a master's degree in arts management from Chung-Ang University. Choi began his career in the underground music scene, performing at the music cafe 'Cherbourg.' He made his official debut in 1983 with the hit song "You Seemed Didn't Know". In the 1980s, Choi rose to prominence alongside other popular artists like Kim Beom-ryong, Jeon Young-rok, and Cho Yong-pil. His distinct voice and impressive singing ability, coupled with his striking appearance, garnered him a large fanbase. Choi is also known for his skills as a singer-songwriter, with many of his songs being self-composed. Some of his most famous songs include "Our Happy Love" (1987), "Love of Grass" (1990), "Donghaeng" (1987) , and "Whisky On The Rock" (2002). His 1986 debut album Namnam/Sorrow and subsequent albums, such as Accompanying (1987), Don't Forget (1989) cemented his status as a leading figure in the Korean music industry. He also released a best album, the Best History in 2008. After taking a break to study at Berklee College of Music, Choi returned to music in 2007 and later released his 11th album in 2017. He has also pursued an academic career, serving as a professor at various universities.
