Towner & Town Chief (시인과 촌장), a South Korean folk band formed in 1981, is known for its poetic lyrics and rich acoustic sound. The band's name is inspired by Seo-Yeong Eun's novel Poet and a Village Chief (시인과 촌장), reflecting the fusion of urban and rural elements in their music. The group consists of Ha Deok-kyu and Ham Chun-ho, who have been pivotal in shaping the band's signature style. Over the years, Towner & Town Chief gained recognition for their heartfelt and introspective songs that blend folk, rock, and pop influences. Their debut album, 시인과 촌장 (1981), marked the beginning of their influential career, followed by notable releases such as Blue Sail / Love Diary (1986), Forest (1988), and 다리 (The Bridge) (2000). Despite experiencing periods of inactivity, Towner & Town Chief remains active in South Korea's folk music scene to this day.
