CROWN POP

Combining an ultra-slick, hi-fi sound with elaborate live choreographies, the all-female idol group Crown Pop emerged onto the scene in 2015. It was created by the talent agency Stardust Promotion and consisted of a group of young trainees specially recruited for their dance skills. Following their live debut in late 2015, Crown Pop issued their first mini-album, Change the World!, in 2017. Despite several members leaving, the group announced a new lineup in 2018 featuring Mita Ibuki, Saho Tanaka, Kaori Yamamoto, Rina, Airi Fujita, and Mia Yuzuki. The single "Real×live" appeared in 2018 and was followed by their first nationally-distributed single "Gogo Yoji goro no Suki Desu," which peaked at Number 19 on the weekly Oricon charts. In 2020, their studio debut LIFE cracked the Top 10 of the Oricon Albums Chart. That year, Kaori Yamamoto announced her departure from the group. Crown Pop continued their musical evolution in the following years on a handful of well-received EPs such as To Do (2020) and OMD (2022), and returned to the charts with their second album LIVE (2022), which reached Number 82 on the Billboard Japan Albums chart in 2023.
