Cyrille Dubois

French tenor Cyrille Dubois has established himself as one of the greatest talents of his generation, with a vast operatic repertoire. Born in Ouistreham (Calvados) on September 27, 1984, he began singing at an early age in a children's choir, before joining the Maîtrise de Caen at the age of seven. During this training, Cyrille Dubois was exposed both to the stage and to a repertoire in which early music rubbed shoulders with modern works. His voice evolved from that of a soprano soloist to that of a solid tenor during his studies in agronomy at the University of Rennes and at the Rennes Conservatoire. A successive student of Martine Surais-Deschamps, Graciane Finzi, Anne Le Bozec and Jeff Cohen, he graduated in 2010 with a first prize and first class honors, and joined the Atelier Lyrique de l'Opéra de Paris, where he performed his first leading roles. The same year, he began a long collaboration with pianist Tristan Raës, forming a piano-voice duo called Duo Contraste, which won the Prix Lili et Nadia Boulanger and the Grand Prix of the Lyon International Chamber Music Competition. From 2012, the tenor developed his career on a European scale, appearing at La Scala in Milan in Les Contes d'Hoffmann (Offenbach) and at La Monnaie in Brussels the following year in La Dispute (Mernier). He then appeared at the Paris Opera in Ariane à Naxos (R. Strauss) and Le Roi Arthus (Chausson), and at the Glyndebourne Festival in L'Heure espagnole (Ravel). Winner of a Victoire de la musique classique award in the revelation category in 2015, Cyrille Dubois is as much in demand on stage as on record. He has taken part in recordings by John Nelson, Christophe Rousset, Alexandre Bloch, Sébastien d'Hérin, Philippe Jordan, György Vashegyi, Alexis Kossenko, Marc Minkowski and Hervé Niquet. His association with Tristan Raës can be seen on record in the recitals Liszt: O Lieb! (2019), Lili & Nadia Boulanger: Mélodies (2020) and the triple CD Fauré: Complete Songs (2022).
