Born on August 18, 1983, in Nairobi, Kenya, Daniel Adams-Ray later relocated to Sweden, where he performed with the award-winning hip-hop duo Snook before launching a chart-topping solo career in 2010. He was raised by wealthy, multi-cultural parents whose jobs required the family to move frequently during Adams-Ray's childhood. While attending high school in the suburbs of Stockholm, Sweden, he met Oskar Linnros, with whom he formed Snook in 2000. The pair's first single, "1990 Nånting," was released in 2003, followed one year later by the full-length album Vi vet inte vart vi ska men vi ska komma dit. "Mister Cool," the record's biggest single, peaked at Number 2 in Sweden, and Snook later won an MTV Europe Music Award for "Best Swedish Act" after the release of the duo's second album, Är, in 2006. As the group lapsed into inactivity during the following years, Adams-Ray began focusing on his music, creating a diverse pop sound that made room for African influences like afro beat. He unveiled this new sound with his solo debut, Svart, vitt och allt däremellan, which peaked at Number 2 on Sweden's Sverigetopplistan chart in 2010. The popular album produced four Top 40 hits, including the Number 1 single "Gubben i lådan," and was followed by Innan vi suddas ut in 2013. Adams-Ray teamed up with rap artist Petter that same year for the Number 28 hit "Håll om mig," then appeared on Avicii's Top 40 single "Somewhere in Stockholm" two years later. After releasing a string of non-album singles for the latter half of the 2010s, he reignited his solo career with a third album, Döda hjärtan kan slå igen, in 2021. Adams-Ray starred in the Swedish reality TV show Så mycket bättre that same year and released several songs documenting his time on the show, including the Number 25 hit "Skotthål."
