Daniel DeShaime

Born Jean-Marie Deschênes on August 2, 1946 in Saint-Octave de l'Avenir (Canada), he is a Quebec singer. He began his career accompanying Edith Butler, before writing songs for several artists. He changed his name to Daniel Deschênes, then to Daniel DeShaime for his public career. His best-known songs are thanks to the other performers who lent him their voices: "Ils s'aiment" (Daniel Lavoie), "Tension attention" (Daniel Lavoie), "Lettre à un cowboy" (Mitsou), "Et mon coeur en prend plein la gueule" (Isabelle Boulay). He has written over 300 songs during his career. In 1988, his song "Un peu d'innocence " became the Francophone hit of the year in Quebec. It was the only song to top the charts as a performer. In the 1990s, he became involved in giving workshops and conferences for young songwriters. In 1996, he moved to France for 13 years as director of Société Ze Publisher, introducing him to the world of music publishing. On his return to Quebec, he resumed performing in the province, reissued his albums from the 80s and also produced a Christmas album, En Attendant Noël, released in December 2015.
