Nicknamed "Le Pape de Boulogne" (The Pope of Boulogne), Dany Dan (real name Daniel Lakoué), a French rapper born in Paris on November 20, 1973, made his name with the group Les Sages Poètes de la Rue, whose jazz-influenced rap was a big hit from its first album, Qu'est-ce Qui Fait Marcher les Sages, in 1995. While remaining involved with the group, he began his own solo career in 2003 with the release of several EPs: Dany Dan Vol. 1 (2003), Case Départ (2003), Danny Dan Vol. 2 (2004). A debut album, Poétiquement Correct , followed in 2006. It features several collaborations, with Al Peco, Sir Samuel, Brasco, Moda, Saloon and Kimy. Four years later, he released À la Régulière, a mostly unreleased album. After a first collaborative album with Ol'Kainry in 2005 (Ol' & Dan), the two artists reunited in 2014 for Saison 2 . Ten years later, Dany Dan signed a new album as a duo, this time with beatmaker Kyo Itachi as producer: Pièces Montées, which climbed to number 64 on the French album sales chart.
