Dax

Dax is the stage name of Daniel Nwosu Jr., a Canadian rapper born in Ottawa on 22 March 1994. Before starting out his career in music, he was a student at Newman University and helped fund his education by working as a janitor. In 2012, Dax began uploading rap songs to YouTube and often used his janitorial experience as the subject matter for his lyrics. He rose to prominence with the release of the track "Cash Me Outside" in 2017. The track went viral and garnered more than 18 million views on YouTube. His trademark style is his rapid-fire delivery, often mixed with an element of humour and invariably recorded in a single take. He has developed his unique voice on a further string of talked-about releases, dropping his debut EP It’s Different Now in 2018, which boasted guest spots from the likes of O.T. Genasis and Futuristic. Its successor, I'll Say It for You, followed in 2020. Dax's debut full-length, Pain Paints Paintings, landed in 2021 on Living Legends Entertainment. The LP was propelled by lead single "Propaganda," which featured Canadian rapper Tom MacDonald and went to number 15 on Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales chart. Dax switched lanes for 2022's smash hit single "Dear Alcohol," which saw him explore his toxic relationship with alcohol. The song went all the way to number nine on Billboard's Bubbling Hot Under 100 as well as reaching number 28 on the US Hot Country Songs chart. It was also certified gold by both the RIAA and Music Canada. In June 2022, a country crossover remix of the single was released featuring vocals from country star Elle King. The song received the nod for Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the 2023 Canadian Country Music Awards. New single "God's Eyes" surfaced in 2023.
