Dempagumi.inc

Dempagumi.inc are a six-piece Japanese group composed of Mirin Furukawa, Risa Aizawa, Eimi Naruse, Ayane Fujisaki, Rin Kaname and Nagi Nemoto. They've been bringing an eclectically nerdy flavour of denpa song to the Japanese music world since 2008 when they began performing at DearStage, a small venue in Tokyo. Mirin Furukawa and Akari Owada, salespeople for DearStage, formed the original group under the moniker Denpagumi, pulled in part from the name of the building DearStage was based in. Their first single "Mirror Magic"(2008), released through indie label DearStage Records, failed to chart but the group weren't deterred. They performed regularly and were joined the following year by Meme Nishimura (now Risa Aizawa) and Nemu Yumemi, relaunching as Dempagumi.inc. In February 2010 Dempagumi.inc launched their first major label single, "Kiss + Kiss de Owaranai", through Lantis, but it would take another couple of years for the group to really make a dent on the Japanese singles chart. The period saw Dempagumi.inc's line-up continue to evolve and their debut album, Ne Kite? Uchuu wo Suku no wa, Kitto Osushi... de wa Naku, Dempagumi.inc! launched through MEME TOKYO in December 2011. In 2012 Dempagumi.inc began making television appearances, winning 1st Idol Yokocho Cup!! and launching the variety show Denpa no Kamigami. In January 2013 the group scored their first Oricon Singles Chart top ten single with "WWD" peaking at number six. In 2024, they released the 3rd EP We need the DEMPA.
